Eggplant is typically not eaten raw due to its bitter taste and tough texture. It is commonly cooked before being consumed, either by grilling, roasting, sautéing, or frying. Cooking eggplant helps to soften its texture and mellow out its flavor, making it more palatable. **

To determine if the eggplant is still good, you can check for signs of spoilage such as discoloration, soft spots, or a bad odor. If the eggplant looks and smells normal, you can also gently press on it to see if it feels firm. If it passes these tests, it should still be good to eat. **

Eggplant pairs well with a variety of ingredients, including tomatoes, garlic, onions, bell peppers, and herbs such as basil and oregano. It also complements other vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, and spinach. Additionally, eggplant can be delicious when combined with cheeses such as mozzarella or feta, and it can be used in dishes with grains like couscous or quinoa. Finally, eggplant is often used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines, so it pairs well with flavors and ingredients commonly found in those types of dishes. **

Without more information, it is difficult to determine if the eggplant is still edible. Factors such as its appearance, smell, and texture can help determine its edibility. If the eggplant is not discolored, mushy, or emitting a foul odor, it is likely still safe to eat. However, if there are any signs of spoilage, it is best to discard it to avoid any potential foodborne illnesses. **
